Football Game Preview: Abbeville Wildcats vs. St. Martinville Tigers

Abbeville hasn't had much luck against St. Martinville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will square off against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Neither Abbeville nor St. Martinville posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Abbeville took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They managed a 12-7 victory over Kaplan.

Abbeville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dazavien Maze, who threw for 255 yards and two TDs while completing 81.8% of his passes. Jacolby Campbell also helped out as he racked up 102 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. Martinville took on Erath on Thursday. The Tigers had to suffer through a 45-0 loss at the hands of the Bobcats.

Abbeville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. As for St. Martinville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Abbeville came up short against St. Martinville when the teams last played back in November of 2024, falling 21-8. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
