Weed Gets a Boost from Horton in 48-14 Victory
Starting off the list is Weed's Marcus Horton, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Horton rushed for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also threw for 87 yards and a touchdown on only eight passes. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 145 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Horton must have Mt. Shasta's number; he was a force to be reckoned with the last time he faced them too. When Horton last faced the Bears back in September, he rushed for 230 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 13.5 yards per carry.

Nate Downey's big game helped extend Etna's winning streak to five on Friday. Downey's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 113 rushing yards dating back to last season. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending a pass.
For the season, Downey has averaged 6.6 total tackles per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging nine rushing yards per game. This year he is averaging 109.8 rushing yards.

A Season-Best Effort from Wyatt Shaw Leads Redding Christian over Trinity
Redding Christian was led to victory by Wyatt Shaw, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Shaw wasn't messing around, throwing for 271 yards and four touchdowns while completing 94.4% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. The matchup was his third straight with three or more passing touchdowns.
For the season, Shaw has thrown 17 touchdowns while averaging 224 passing yards per game.
