Baseball Recap: De Leon's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Three

De Leon had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Hico Tigers. The Bearcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

The team relied heavily on Brenner Wright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trenton Zmeskal, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

De Leon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

De Leon's victory bumped their record up to 4-1-1. As for Hico, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1-1.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Bearcats duke it out with the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hico, they are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against Meridian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hico is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.8 runs per game this season.
