For the first time this season, Wolfe City will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They and the Cooper Bulldogs will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 4:30 p.m. Wolfe City has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Cooper will come in with three straight wins.
Wolfe City saw some tournament action two weeks ago. They fell 6-1 to Ford. The matchup marked the Wolves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Wolfe City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Casen Pessel, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Carson Herron also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, while Cooper put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Bland. Everything went Cooper's way against Bland as Cooper made off with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.
Jaret Slakey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 16 over six innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Devin Dial was a standout: he scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Moses, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Cooper always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bland only posted an OBP of .000.
Cooper's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Wolfe City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
