Deer Valley faced ALA - Gilbert North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Skyhawks came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 3-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Skyhawks, who have now won five contests in a row.

Deer Valley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 18-25, 31-29, 25-15, 25-18.

Casian Zirbo paced Deer Valley's offense, picking up 23 kills. Zirbo got some help from Heath McPherson and his 47 assists. McPherson was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

Despite the defeat, ALA - Gilbert North saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cash Price had 12 digs and two aces.
