Basketball Recap: Mishawaka Marian Comes Up Short

Mishawaka Marian was the 60-47 winner over Goshen when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Knights fell 51-41 to the RedHawks on Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Mishawaka Marian lost, don't look at Prescott Horvath. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-8 en route to 18 points. Horvath is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season.

Goshen's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Cline, who posted 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Those seven boards gave Cline a new career-high. Ryen Diaz was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Mishawaka Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Mishawaka Marian will face off against Fort Wayne Bishop Luers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Goshen, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against South Bend Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
