Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Lakes Spartans vs. Cypress Woods Wildcats

Cypress Lakes is 2-8 against Cypress Woods since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cypress Lakes Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Cypress Woods Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cypress Lakes' tournament run continued when they took on Klein on Saturday. Cypress Lakes fell 43-32 to Klein. The matchup marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cypress Woods was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 80-58 to Seven Lakes. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Spartans are ranked 35th).

Cypress Woods' loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Cypress Lakes, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Cypress Lakes came up short against Cypress Woods in their previous meeting back in February, falling 69-62. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cypress Woods' Chase Anderson, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 24 points.
