Football Recap: Carrizo Springs Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Carrizo Springs and Wimberley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Carrizo Springs had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Texans 59-0. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 810th, while the Texans are ranked 382nd).

Brandon Cruz threw for 58 yards on nine of 16 attempts. Jacee Carrizales was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards.

Wimberley was led to victory by Jackson Parker and Maverick Jacobs. Parker threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes, while Jacobs rushed for 59 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries. Parker's passing game has become a key predictor of the Texans' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. Wimberley also got help from Colt Wright, who showed off his sure hands for 94 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Carrizo Springs and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Wimberley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Carrizo Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wimberley, they will take on Robstown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
