James Wood has gone a perfect 7-0 against Warren County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Colonels will welcome the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

James Wood is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Kettle Run, who was ranked 25th at the time (James Wood was ranked second). The Colonels fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Colonels' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

James Wood actually scored more points across those five sets (111-101), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 17-25, 16-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Despite the defeat, James Wood saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Middleton had 16 assists and four digs. Kylie Putt also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Meanwhile, Warren County had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since October 17, 2024.

Warren County's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for James Wood, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 23-2.
