Baseball Recap: Midway Takes a Loss

Midway extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 2-12. They came up short against the Harriman Blue Devils, falling 11-5. The Green Wave were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Pepper Willoughby made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

As for Harriman, they pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Harriman's side, Jacob Hawn made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Hawn was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Brayden Knobloch was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Cam Best, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Midway had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
