Football Game Preview: Burroughs Bombers vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats

The Burroughs Bombers will venture away from home to face off against the Westminster Christian Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Burroughs took a loss when they played away from home last Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 41-6 win over Priory. The Bombers haven't had any issues with the Ravens recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Burroughs can attribute much of their success to Jack Donnelly, who threw for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes, and Shannon Seals, who rushed for 55 yards and one TD on only six carries. Those 55 rushing yards gave Seals a new career-high.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Cole Williams-Caldwell, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Westminster Christian got themselves on the board against Lutheran South on Saturday, but Lutheran South never followed suit. They blew past the Lancers, posting a 43-0 win. Considering the Wildcats have won three contests by more than 37 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Westminster Christian's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Burroughs, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4.

Everything went Burroughs' way against Westminster Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Burroughs made off with a 35-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
