Volleyball Recap: Guerin Catholic's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Guerin Catholic unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Zionsville Eagles. While the Golden Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-19 in the first set.

Guerin Catholic started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 27-25, 25-21, 25-21.

Guerin Catholic's loss came despite strong showings from Claire Ducey and Natalie Laughon. Ducey had 43 assists and eight digs, while Laughon had 22 digs. Ducey is crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 18 every time she's taken the court this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Zionsville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Abby Swan, who had 15 digs. Emerson Vangorder also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

Guerin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Zionsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-11.

Coming up, Guerin Catholic will host Carmel at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Zionsville, they are taking a road trip to face off against Avon at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
