Football Recap: Hubbard Takes a Loss

Despite a strong season so far, Hubbard has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 32-31 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Range Raiders. The Eagles lost against the Raiders in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 38-0 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Hubbard lost on Friday, don't look at Michael Hazimihalis. Despite the final result, he rushed for 126 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Braydon Songer, who rushed for 57 yards and one score.

Hubbard's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for South Range, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Hubbard wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-13 defeat against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin on the 31st. As for South Range, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-7 victory against Berkshire on the 31st.
