Softball Recap: Atlantic City's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Atlantic City was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Wildwood Catholic on Thursday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Nelly Sosa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last seven contests. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

In other batting news, Atlantic City got a big performance out of Alaina Moore, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Jojo Mejia, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Atlantic City always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wildwood Catholic only posted an OBP of .286.

With the win, Atlantic City broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-8. As for Wildwood Catholic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Atlantic City will challenge Camden County Vo-Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Wildwood Catholic, they will square off against Lower Cape May on Friday.
