Basketball Recap: Derrica Motley's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Billingsley over Marion

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Billingsley couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Marion Rams by a score of 46-43 on Monday. The Bears have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Billingsley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Derrica Motley, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. Motley is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Alana Jones was another key player, putting up eight points along with 12 boards and six steals.

Even though they lost, Billingsley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 46 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Billingsley's loss dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Marion, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
