Football Recap: Goodland Takes a Loss

Goodland lost against Holcomb back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cowboys came up short against the Longhorns, falling 34-14. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Longhorns are ranked 35th).

Cooper Cranston was his usual excellent self, rushing for 234 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 47 yards and one TD for Holcomb. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Cranston a new career-high.

Goodland's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Holcomb, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Goodland is set to square off against their familiar foe Ulysses at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Holcomb will face off against rival Colby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
