Basketball Recap: Iowa City Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Liberty

On Friday, Iowa City faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Iowa City Little Hawks took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Liberty Lightning. The Little Hawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lightning earlier this season, when they won 52-43.

Iowa City's loss dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Liberty, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Looking ahead, Iowa City will look to defend their home court on Monday against Maquoketa. Maquoketa will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Iowa City surely won't give up without a fight. Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
