Softball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

Liberty extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-12. They lost 11-0 to the Pine Creek Eagles. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 3, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Liberty saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenna Newton, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

As for Pine Creek, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-3. Considering they have won 12 games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Pine Creek's side, Kyleigh Croyle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Croyle has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Makenzie *MJ* Eberly was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kailani *Kai* Shideler, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Liberty will face off against rival Doherty at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Pine Creek is set to square off against their familiar foe Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
