Basketball Preview: Bard Falcons vs. Dunbar Crimson Tide

The Bard Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Dunbar Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Bard has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 3.

Last Friday, things could have been worse for Bard, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to the Ramblers.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Andre Wright, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. LaMardre Anderson-Ward was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.

Bard struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-6) when they can't control their own glass like that.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Dunbar ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Banneker and snuck past 52-49. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Dunbar was the better team in the second half.

D'Mitric Starke and Jordan Russell were among the main playmakers for Dunbar as the former scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Phillip Crowell, who scored six points along with two steals.

Bard dropped their record down to 3-19 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Dunbar, their win bumped their record up to 11-9.

Bard took their victory against the Crimson Tide in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 62-38. Does Bard have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crimson Tide turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
