Softball Recap: Yulee Hornets vs. Beachside Barracudas
Yulee has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.35 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 win over the Beachside Barracudas. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hornets have posted since March 14th.
Jade Fisher and Ava Martyn did most of the damage at the plate: Fisher went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run, while Martyn went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles Martyn has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alani Goicoechea, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The win made it two in a row for Yulee and bumps their season record up to 12-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Beachside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.
Coming up, Yulee will square off against Baldwin at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hornets 3.4, the Indians 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Beachside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
