Football Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Baldwyn

It was a proper cat-fight when Baldwyn challenged Hamilton on Friday. The Bearcats walked away with a 38-28 win over the Lions. With that victory, the Bearcats brought their scoring average up to 26.3 points per game.

Jourdan Crump had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 207 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. Those three rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Calvin Price was another key back, rushing for 101 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Baldwyn was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Baldwyn's defense and their nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Chanceton Price and Braxton Stewart, who racked up six sacks between them.

Despite the loss, Hamilton had strong showings from Justin Verner, who threw for 365 yards and a pair of TDs, and Ian Nichols, who picked up 148 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The win was the third in a row for Baldwyn, bringing their record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.7 points over those games. As for Hamilton, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3.

Baldwyn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 36-12 win against Walnut on the 30th. As for Hamilton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-52 victory against Hatley on the 31st.
