Baseball Recap: Gulliver Prep Comes Up Short

Gulliver Prep lost against Palmetto back in March of 2017 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Gulliver Prep Raiders fell just short of the Palmetto Panthers by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by just one run.

Julian Herrera was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Herrera wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brian Sanchez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Sanchez a new career-high in hits (two).

Gulliver Prep's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Gulliver Prep wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-10 defeat against Florida Christian on the 13th. As for Palmetto, they will venture away from home to square off against Belen Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
