Football Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats vs. Weimar Wildcats + How To Watch

Refugio is a perfect 5-0 against Weimar since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bobcats will challenge the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Refugio knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Weimar likes a good challenge.

Refugio is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Three Rivers: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Bobcats blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 63-13 final score. The win continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.

Zander Wills was his usual excellent self, rushing for 278 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries. Wills is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Perez, who threw for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Refugio was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 369 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 257 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Refugio didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Laytyn Garza and Jaedynce Lewis.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Weimar faced off against Kenedy on Friday. The Wildcats were outmatched by the Lions and fell 41-14. The contest was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

The loss snapped Weimar's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-2 record. As for Refugio, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Everything came up roses for Refugio against Weimar in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 42-14 win. In that game, the Bobcats amassed a halftime lead of 35-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
