Softball Preview: Langley Saxons vs. Yorktown Patriots
Langley has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Yorktown Patriots at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Langley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Langley gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. They put the hurt on George C. Marshall with a sharp 7-0 win.
Norah Jacques was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 20 over seven innings pitched. Jacques has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Jacques was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Mina Britt and Emma Hussein did most of the damage at the plate: Britt scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hussein scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Meanwhile, Yorktown narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wakefield School 3-2.
