Ansonia hasn't had much luck against Wolcott recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chargers will be playing at home against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Thursday, Ansonia got the win against Waterbury Career Academy by a conclusive 22-3. Considering the Chargers have won seven contests by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Triston Ahearn made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Ahearn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ansonia got a massive performance out of Gabby Hakins, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Hakins a new career-high in hits (three). Another player making a difference was Weston Ahearn, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Wolcott was able to grind out a solid win over Watertown on Monday, taking the game 13-8.
Lia Ladd was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Lilly Spina was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.
Wolcott pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games. As for Ansonia, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ansonia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .358. However, it's not like Wolcott struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
