Recap: Alta Hawks vs. West Panthers
The Alta Hawks came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past West with points to spare, taking the game 57-43. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Alta has scored all year.
Leading Alta to victory were Carter Doleac and Jaxon Johnson. Doleac scored 15 points along with nine rebounds, while Johnson scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ace Reiser, who scored seven points.
West lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Albertson, who scored ten points. Robert "R.J." Hansen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Alta's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-1. As for West, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alta will take on Brighton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brighton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Alta is ranked first). As for West, they will be playing at home against East at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.
