Hazelwood West had won five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 15-4 to make it six. Everything went their way against the Ladue Horton Watkins Rams as they made off with a 7-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Allisan Cafolla made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.
In other batting news, Kenna Kalka and Mia Boschen did most of the damage at the plate: Kalka went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Boschen went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Boschen is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was DaRailly Dunlap, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one stolen base.
As for Ladue Horton Watkins, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8. They have struggled against Hazelwood West recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
On Ladue Horton Watkins' side, Caroline Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Ladue Horton Watkins saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colette Brennan, who went 2-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Brennan has hit this season.
Coming up, Hazelwood West will take on Howell Central at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.5, the Spartans 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Ladue Horton Watkins does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
