Recap: Miramar Patriots vs. Miami Country Day Spartans
The Miramar Patriots proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by 20) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Miami Country Day and snuck past 48-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Miramar has posted yet this season.
Leading Miramar to victory were Mekhi Hudson-Dillard and Joshua Skinner. Hudson-Dillard scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Skinner dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Hudson-Dillard's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
When it comes to explaining why Miami Country Day lost, one person who can't be blamed is Herbert Wilson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Daltyn Simon, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Miramar has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Miami Country Day, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.
Miramar won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against King's Academy at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. King's Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 15 matchups -- so hopefully Miramar likes a good challenge. Miami Country Day will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Westminster Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Westminster Christian is ranked 148th, while Miami Country Day is ranked 125th).
