Baseball Recap: Seward Gets the Win

Seward won the last time they faced York and things went their way on Thursday too. The Bluejays came out on top against the Dukes by a score of 12-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bluejays.

Landon Pelster was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brycen Burt was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Kyle Riley was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Seward's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for York, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Seward will face off against rival Lincoln Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bluejays 4.1, the Crusaders 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, York is set to take on their familiar foe Bryan at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
