Basketball Recap: Catalina Takes a Loss

Catalina was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 29th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a hard 45-30 fall against the St. Augustine Catholic Wolves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-46 back in December of 2024.

St. Augustine Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jovanni Fernandez led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 boards. Fernandez is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. Jonathan Ochoa was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Catalina's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for St. Augustine Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catalina will host Andrada Polytechnic at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Catalina is facing Andrada Polytechnic at the right time seeing as Andrada Polytechnic is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for St. Augustine Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Miami's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
