Recap: Hagerty Huskies vs. Oviedo Lions

After flying high against the Winter Springs Bears last Thursday, the Hagerty Huskies came back down to earth. Hagerty was the victim of a tough 79-56 loss at the hands of Oviedo on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hagerty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Oviedo is ranked 32nd).

When it comes to explaining why Hagerty lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caden Douglass. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Douglass continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Dipaolo, who scored nine points along with two blocks.

Oviedo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caleb Pennyfeather out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pennyfeather has scored all season. Alex Harper was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds.

Hagerty's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4. As for Oviedo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

Hagerty and Ocoee will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Oviedo, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Seabreeze at 7:30 p.m. Seabreeze is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
