Baseball Game Preview: Leo Lions vs. Brooks Eagles

The Leo Lions will challenge the Brooks Eagles at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Leo is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Leo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lindblom, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Leo blew past Lindblom 11-3 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Michael Lewis made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Ian Dunn was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Devin Vassel was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Brooks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Ridgewood.

Leo's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Brooks, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Leo beat Brooks 11-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Will Leo repeat their success, or does Brooks has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
