Preview: Phoebus Phantoms vs. Bethel Bruins
Phoebus is 2-8 against Bethel since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Phoebus Phantoms will head out on the road to face off against the Bethel Bruins at 5:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, Phoebus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-38 to Heritage. Phoebus has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aniyah Waldon-Brooks put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 13 points. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Tehya Brewer was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought contest, but Bethel had to settle for a 53-51 loss against Woodside on Tuesday.
With Phoebus' defeat and Woodside's victory, both teams now sport identical 1-1 records.
Phoebus was dealt a bruising 56-20 loss at the hands of Bethel in their previous meeting back in January. Can Phoebus avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
