Basketball Recap: Hazelwood Central Takes a Loss

Hazelwood Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-51 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kirkwood Pioneers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Hawks came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Pioneers are ranked 262nd).

Hazelwood Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Kirkwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.

Coming up, Hazelwood Central will head out on the road to square off against Hazelwood East at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hazelwood East knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Hazelwood Central likes a good challenge. As for Kirkwood, they will be playing at home against McCluer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
