The Gila Ridge Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Sierra Linda Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gila Ridge is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
Gila Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Somerton, posting a 79-0 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Hawks' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Toros are ranked 218th).

It was another big night for Prentes Boxx lll, who rushed for 135 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 114 rushing yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Soliz, who threw for 86 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Gila Ridge, adding 29 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Drake Phillips, who ran a punt back for a touchdown. Another bright spot was a kickoff return touchdown from Kanai Hongo.
Meanwhile, Sierra Linda didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against La Joya Community on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win.
One reason for the win was Sierra Linda's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Max Baird was especially locked on to La Joya Community's QB and sacked him twice.
Gila Ridge's record is now 7-1. As for Sierra Linda, their record now sits at an identical 7-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Gila Ridge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Sierra Linda, though, as they've been averaging only 96 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Gila Ridge against Sierra Linda in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 44-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
