Baseball Recap: Kaiser Find Success

Kaiser was handed a seven-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the West Covina Bulldogs 1-0.

Zeke Isaak Cortez got the start for Kaiser and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Cortez has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. Dom Roybal relieved him and did a solid job, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Kaiser's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Marcus Cortez, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Kaiser's record is now 6-4. As for West Covina, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Kaiser will be playing at home against Eisenhower at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for West Covina, they are taking a road trip to take on Don Lugo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
