Neuqua Valley had lost three games at home, but after bumping their record up to 4-8-1 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Metea Valley Mustangs 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Neuqua Valley got a great performance from Jack Martin as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Owen Shannon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Mike Langan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Metea Valley, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

On Metea Valley's side, they got a good showing from Kayden Nimer, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Nimer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tyler Gluting made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Metea Valley's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

Neuqua Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
