Recap: Cathedral Catholic Dons vs. Madison Warhawks
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against St. Augustine, the Cathedral Catholic Dons were happy to have found some success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Madison 87-59 at home. Given Cathedral Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Madison is ranked 564th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Cathedral Catholic to victory were Pj Jourdain and Patrick O'brien. Jourdain scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and five assists, while O'brien scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points O'brien has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Enos, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Madison saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Gleason scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Gleason posted two or more blocks. Jorge Luque was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Cathedral Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Madison, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-12.
Cathedral Catholic will head out on the road to challenge Mission Bay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mission Bay has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 301 points over their last five matchups. As for Madison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University City at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. University City is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
