Baseball Recap: San Ysidro Comes Up Short

San Ysidro extended their losing streak to nine on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-20. They fell 9-4 to the Eastlake Titans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Titans this season, with their most recent loss being a 5-2 defeat last Thursday.

Carlos Orozco was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Alexavier Abdala also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

As for Eastlake, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 21-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games.

On Eastlake's side, Lucas Yriqui tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. Yriqui has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Hamza Hatahet was a standout: he went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those five hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joel Vargas, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

As of now, neither San Ysidro nor Eastlake have any future games scheduled.
