Winterboro had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 victory over the Central of Clay County Volunteers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-43 two weeks ago.

Central of Clay County's loss came despite strong showings from Zykeria Heflin and Brandi Searcy. Heflin posted six points along with 13 boards and five blocks, while Searcy went 6 of 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Heflin has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Mia Lindsey, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Winterboro's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Central of Clay County, they moved to 5-3 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Winterboro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 56-13 victory against Wadley on the 17th. As for Central of Clay County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-45 win against Randolph County on the 19th.
