Football Recap: Wright Comes Up Short

Wright extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to ten on Friday, dropping them down to 0-4. They had to suffer through a 38-8 loss at the hands of the Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] Miners. If the Red Devils were looking for revenge after losing 50-12 to the Miners when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield], they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Miners, who have now won eight contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

A big part of Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield]'s victory came down to the chemistry between Jayden Verrett and his top target Cayden Harju. Verrett threw for 149 yards and three TDs on only 12 passes while Harju picked up 118 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 149 passing yards gave Verrett a new career-high.

As of now, neither Wright nor Gogebic [Johnston/Wakefield] have any future games scheduled.
