Preview: Sahuarita Mustangs vs. Cienega Bobcats
The Sahuarita Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cienega Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sahuarita's six-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-46 victory over Apache Junction.
Sahuarita found their leader in underclassman Daniel Durazo, who scored 16 points along with three steals. That's the first time this season that Durazo scored 15 or more points. Zack Myhre was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cienega came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Catalina Foothills by a score of 67-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Sahuarita's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7. As for Cienega, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
