Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Seahawks vs. Wicomico Indians

Decatur is on a four-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Wicomico is on a 11-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Decatur Seahawks will welcome the Wicomico Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Decatur is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.2 points per game this season.

Decatur is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Salisbury Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Decatur blew Salisbury Christian out of the water with a 59-16 final score. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Decatur's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allison Swift, who posted 14 points along with five boards and five steals. Swift is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Maleah Blake was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight assists and five steals.

Decatur smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-40, which was the final score in Wicomico's tilt against The Academy of the Holy Cross last Saturday.

Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Wicomico, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.

Decatur was dealt a bruising 67-24 loss at the hands of Wicomico when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Decatur avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
