Steinbrenner is a perfect 10-0 against Gaither since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Steinbrenner Warriors will face off against the Gaither Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. Steinbrenner will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Steinbrenner had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Robinson on Tuesday. Steinbrenner was the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Robinson. Considering the Warriors have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Madi Adams looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, Hanna Goggan and Jenna Fortenberry did most of the damage at the plate: Goggan scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Fortenberry scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. What's more, Fortenberry posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Berkley Demetter also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Steinbrenner hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Gaither owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They skirted past Alonso 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted against the Ravens since April 20, 2017.
Not much got past Kacey Wilkes, who gave up just four hits to keep Alonso off the board. That's the fewest hits Wilkes has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Gaither's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lacey Giunta-Heuss, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Steinbrenner pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Gaither, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Gaither's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Steinbrenner has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gaither, though, as they've been averaging only 2.2 strikeouts. Will Steinbrenner keep running through batters, or will Gaither buck the trend?
Everything went Steinbrenner's way against Gaither in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Steinbrenner made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Steinbrenner since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
