Baseball Game Preview: Hammonton Blue Devils vs. Cedar Creek Pirates

The Hammonton Blue Devils will head out on the road to take on the Cedar Creek Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hammonton will be strutting in after a victory while Cedar Creek will be coming in after a defeat.

Hammonton took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Millville by a score of 8-5. The Blue Devils' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Trevor West spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on 12 hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Mull, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Gavin Franchetti was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Cedar Creek's offense. They came up short against St. Augustine Prep on Wednesday, falling 12-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pirates have suffered since April 30, 2025.

Hammonton's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Cedar Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Hammonton was able to grind out a solid victory over Cedar Creek in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
