Basketball Game Preview: Serra Catholic Eagles vs. Nazareth Prep Saints

Serra Catholic is 3-0 against Nazareth Prep since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Serra Catholic Eagles will look to defend their home court against the Nazareth Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Serra Catholic took on Environmental Charter on Tuesday. Serra Catholic put the hurt on Environmental Charter with a sharp 74-48 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Owen Dumbroski and Brayden Graham were among the main playmakers for Serra Catholic as the former went 9 for 17 en route to 22 points in addition to five assists and five steals and the latter went 9 of 12 on his way to 18 points and seven steals. With that strong performance, Graham is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Mark Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points along with six assists and six steals.

Serra Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nazareth Prep). They came out on top against Aquinas Academy by a score of 87-80 on Tuesday.

Serra Catholic pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.8 points. As for Nazareth Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Serra Catholic was able to grind out a solid win over Nazareth Prep in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 79-68. Does Serra Catholic have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nazareth Prep turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
