Baseball Game Preview: Shorecrest Scots vs. Lynnwood Royals

The Shorecrest Scots are taking a road trip to square off against the Lynnwood Royals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither Shorecrest nor Lynnwood posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Monday, Shorecrest didn't have quite enough to beat Edmonds-Woodway and fell 2-1. The Scots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shorecrest saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Schultz, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Elyas Rojas was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meadowdale hit Lynnwood with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Royals lost 7-1 to the Mavericks. The loss continues a trend for the Royals in their meetings with the Mavericks: they've now lost three in a row.

Shorecrest's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-1. As for Lynnwood, their loss dropped their record down to 1-11.

Lynnwood's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Shorecrest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lynnwood, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 strikeouts. Will Shorecrest keep running through batters, or will the Royals buck the trend?

Shorecrest came out on top in a nail-biter against Lynnwood when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 6-4. Do the Scots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Royals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
