Volleyball Recap: Wayland Academy Big Red vs. Abundant Life Challengers
Wayland Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Abundant Life Challengers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Big Red of the 2-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-10.
Abundant Life found their leader in underclassman Emma Nolke, who had four aces and 16 assists. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: Nolke now posted 15 or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season.
Wayland Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Abundant Life, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
Wayland Academy will square off against Lourdes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Abundant Life, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss vs. Mayville on the 21st.
