Flag Football Recap: Apache Junction Takes a Loss

Apache Junction fell victim to Gilbert Christian and their airtight defense on Monday. They were dealt a 47-0 defeat at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Prospectors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona flag football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Knights are ranked 25th).

Leading Gilbert Christian to victory were Alyssa Cervantez and Madelyn Willms. Cervantez threw for 147 yards and two touchdowns, while Willms rushed for 86 yards and one score. Willms' longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards. Alexa Enman made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Apache Junction's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Gilbert Christian, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Apache Junction didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 24-6 defeat against ALA - Ironwood on the 30th. As for Gilbert Christian, they will head out to face off against Leading Edge Academy - GEC at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
