After a string of three wins, Pearl-Cohn's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 14-7 to the Melrose Golden Wildcats. The game marked the Firebirds' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Lj Funk threw for 77 yards on six of 14 attempts. Kendrick Johnson was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards. On the ground, OmariOn Starnes rushed for 28 yards.

Jamarion Morrow was a one-man wrecking crew for Melrose as he rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns.

Pearl-Cohn's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Melrose, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home.
